Testing
IEEE Standard 610.12 defines testing as: "The process of operating a system or component under specified conditions, observing or recording the results, and making an evaluation of some aspect of the system or component."
The minimum formal requirements for the conduct of testing are set forth in IEEE Standard 829-1998. Be wary of anyone who claims that they followed some ad hoc or company-defined testing process.
